Western NC--and particularly the Great Smokey Mountains--are well traveled for their beauy, mild climate, relatively low cost of living and awesome retirement communities. The recreational opportunities, especially those in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park area, which includes both western NC and eastern Tennessee, is what brings most visitors to this historically significant mountainous area.

The Cherokee Indian home here attracts much interest and many people visit Cherokee NC for just that purpose--not to mention the outdoor pleasures such as hiking, fishing, camping, gem stone mining and collecting, whitewater rafting and many other adventures for kids of all ages. Western North Carolina is just plain fun.
